2 Samuel

22 : 1 And David spoketo theLordthe words of this song on the day when theLorddelivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.
22 : 2 He said,TheLordis my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
22 : 3 myGod, my rock,in whom I take refuge,my shield, andthe horn of my salvation,my stronghold andmy refuge,my savior; you save me from violence.
22 : 4 I call upon theLord, who isworthy to be praised,and I am saved from my enemies.
22 : 5 For the waves of death encompassed me,the torrents of destruction assailed me;
22 : 6 the cords of Sheol entangled me;the snares of death confronted me.
22 : 7 In my distress I called upon theLord;to my God I called.From his temple he heard my voice,and my crycame to his ears.
22 : 8 Thenthe earth reeled and rocked;the foundations of the heavens trembledand quaked, because he was angry.
22 : 9 Smoke went up from his nostrils,and devouring fire from his mouth;glowing coals flamed forth from him.
22 : 10 He bowed the heavens andcame down;thick darkness was under his feet.
22 : 11 He rode on a cherub and flew;he was seen onthe wings of the wind.
22 : 12 He madedarkness around himhis canopy,thick clouds, a gathering of water.
22 : 13 Out of the brightness before himcoals of fire flamed forth.
22 : 14 TheLordthundered from heaven,and the Most High uttered his voice.
22 : 15 And he sent outarrows and scattered them;lightning, and routed them.
22 : 16 Then the channels of the sea were seen;the foundations of the world were laid bare,at the rebuke of theLord,at theblast of the breath of his nostrils.
22 : 17 He sent from on high, he took me;he drew me out of many waters.
22 : 18 He rescued me from my strong enemy,from those who hated me,for they were too mighty for me.
22 : 19 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,but theLordwas my support.
22 : 20 He brought me out into a broad place;he rescued me, becausehe delighted in me.
22 : 21 TheLorddealt with me according to my righteousness;according to thecleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
22 : 22 For I have kept the ways of theLordand have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 : 23 For all his rules were before me,and from his statutes I did not turn aside.
22 : 24 I wasblameless before him,and I kept myself from guilt.
22 : 25 And theLordhas rewarded me according to my righteousness,according to my cleanness in his sight.
22 : 26 With the merciful you show yourself merciful;with theblameless man you show yourself blameless;
22 : 27 with the purified you deal purely,and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
22 : 28 You save a humble people,but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them down.
22 : 29 For you are my lamp, OLord,and my God lightens my darkness.
22 : 30 For by you I can run against a troop,and by my God I can leap over a wall.
22 : 31 This God&emdash;his way is perfect;theword of theLordproves true;he isa shield for all those who take refuge in him.
22 : 32 For who is God, but theLord?And who is a rock, except our God?
22 : 33 This God is mystrong refugeand has made myway blameless.
22 : 34 He made my feet like the feet of a deerand set me secureon the heights.
22 : 35 He trains my hands for war,so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
22 : 36 You have given me the shield of your salvation,and your gentleness made me great.
22 : 37 You gave a wide place for my steps under me,and my feetdid not slip;
22 : 38 I pursued my enemies and destroyed them,and did not turn back until they were consumed.
22 : 39 I consumed them; I thrust them through, so that they did not rise;they fellunder my feet.
22 : 40 For you equipped me with strength for the battle;you madethose who rise against me sink under me.
22 : 41 Youmade my enemies turn their backs to me,those who hated me, and I destroyed them.
22 : 42 They looked, but there was none to save;they cried to theLord, buthe did not answer them.
22 : 43 I beat them fineas the dust of the earth;I crushed them and stamped them downlike the mire of the streets.
22 : 44 You delivered me from strife with my people;you kept me as the head ofthe nations;people whom I had not known served me.
22 : 45 Foreigners came cringing to me;as soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me.
22 : 46 Foreigners lost heartand came tremblingout of their fortresses.
22 : 47 TheLordlives, and blessed be my rock,and exalted bemy God,the rock of my salvation,
22 : 48 the God who gave me vengeanceandbrought down peoples under me,
22 : 49 who brought me out from my enemies;you exalted me abovethose who rose against me;you delivered me frommen of violence.
22 : 50 For this I will praise you, OLord, among the nations,and sing praises to your name.
22 : 51 Great salvation he bringsto his king,and shows steadfast love tohis anointed,to David and his offspringforever.
