74 : 1 O God, why do youcast us off forever?Why does your angersmoke againstthe sheep of your pasture?
74 : 2 Remember your congregation, which you havepurchased of old,which you haveredeemed to bethe tribe of your heritage!Remember Mount Zion,where you have dwelt.
74 : 3 Direct your steps tothe perpetual ruins;the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary!
74 : 4 Your foes haveroared in the midst of your meeting place;they set up theirown signs forsigns.
74 : 5 They were like those who swingaxesin a forest of trees.
74 : 6 And all itscarved woodthey broke down with hatchets and hammers.
74 : 7 Theyset your sanctuary on fire;theyprofanedthe dwelling place of your name,bringing it down to the ground.
74 : 8 Theysaid to themselves,We will utterly subdue them;they burned all the meeting places of God in the land.
74 : 9 We do not see oursigns;there is no longer any prophet,and there is none among us who knows how long.
74 : 10 How long, O God,is the foe to scoff?Is the enemy to revile your name forever?
74 : 11 Whydo you hold back your hand, your right hand?Take it from the fold of your garmentand destroy them!
74 : 12 YetGod my King is from of old,working salvation in the midst of the earth.
74 : 13 Youdivided the sea by your might;youbroke the heads ofthe sea monsterson the waters.
74 : 14 You crushed the heads ofLeviathan;you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness.
74 : 15 Yousplit open springs and brooks;youdried up ever-flowing streams.
74 : 16 Yours is the day, yours also the night;you have establishedthe heavenly lights and the sun.
74 : 17 You havefixed all the boundaries of the earth;you have madesummer and winter.
74 : 18 Remember this, OLord, how the enemy scoffs,anda foolish people reviles your name.
74 : 19 Do not deliver the soul of yourdove to the wild beasts;do not forget the life of your poor forever.
74 : 20 Have regard forthe covenant,forthe dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
74 : 21 Let notthe downtroddenturn back in shame;letthe poor and needy praise your name.
74 : 22 Arise, O God,defend your cause;remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day!
74 : 23 Do not forget the clamor of your foes,the uproar of those who rise against you, which goes up continually!
