1 : 4 For we know,brothersloved by God,that he has chosen you,

1 : 5 becauseour gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power andin the Holy Spirit and with fullconviction. You knowwhat kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

1 : 6 Andyou became imitators of usand of the Lord, foryou received the word in much affliction,with thejoy of the Holy Spirit,

1 : 7 so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

|
1 : 8 For not only has the word of the Lordsounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone fortheverywhere, so that we need not say anything.

1 : 9 For they themselves report concerning us the kind ofreception we had among you, and howyou turned to Godfrom idols to serve the living andtrue God,
|
|
1 : 10 andto wait for his Sonfrom heaven,whom he raised from the dead, Jesuswho delivers us fromthe wrath to come.
