1 Thessalonians

4 : 1 Finally, then, brothers,we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as youreceived from ushow you ought to walk andto please God, just as you are doing, that youdo so more and more.
4 : 2 Foryou know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
4 : 3 For this is the will of God,your sanctification:that you abstain from sexual immorality;
4 : 4 that each one of you know how to control his ownbodyin holiness andhonor,
4 : 5 not inthe passion of lustlike the Gentileswho do not know God;
4 : 6 that no one transgress andwrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord isan avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.
4 : 7 ForGod has not called us forimpurity, but in holiness.
4 : 8 Thereforewhoever disregards this, disregards not man but God,who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
4 : 9 Now concerningbrotherly loveyou have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have beentaught by Godto love one another,
4 : 10 for that indeed is whatyou are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, todo this more and more,
4 : 11 and to aspireto live quietly, andto mind your own affairs, andto work with your hands, as we instructed you,
4 : 12 so that you maywalk properly beforeoutsiders and be dependent on no one.
4 : 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep,that you may not grieve as others dowho have no hope.
4 : 14 Forsince we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with himthose who have fallen asleep.
4 : 15 For this we declare to youby a word from the Lord,thatwe who are alive, who are left untilthe coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
4 : 16 Forthe Lord himself will descendfrom heavenwith a cry of command, with the voice ofan archangel, andwith the sound of the trumpet of God. Andthe dead in Christ will rise first.
4 : 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will becaught up together with themin the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and sowe will always be with the Lord.
4 : 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
